What inspired you to become a dentist?
I was pre-med in college, but my uncle was a dentist and kept trying to convince me to go to dental school instead. I finally gave in and shadowed him for a week in his practice in northern MN – I fell in love when I watched him rebuild someone’s broken front tooth! I realized dentistry was the perfect blend of science and art, which was right up my alley.
What’s your favorite part about practicing cosmetic dentistry?
The joy and confidence in my patients once their cases are complete. There’s no better feeling!
If you weren’t a dentist, what would you be doing instead?
Probably a dog groomer or a bridal boutique LOL
What’s one cosmetic procedure you’re especially passionate about right now?
I like it all, but whatever the most conservative treatment is, is my favorite. I want to achieve maximum results with the least amount of tooth modification/shaving. Responsible esthetics was drilled into me with the accreditation through the AACD (American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry).
What’s one dental myth you wish people would stop believing?
If you ignore it, it’ll go away. That tends to lead to more extensive and painful treatment needs later on.
What’s your favorite dental tool (yes, really!) and why?
It’s a tie between a large Optrasculpt pad for contouring resin veneers and the crown and bridge mirror (it’s huge and I can see everything!)
What’s a moment with a patient that you’ll never forget?
A 7 year old bit my on the finger REALLY hard once, and I won’t forget that LOL
What’s one piece of dental advice you give to every patient?
Lately, we’re loving Dr. Jen’s Superpaste and letting everyone know about it.
What do you love most about being part of the Dundee community?
It feels like a small town inside of a big town, and being from a small town, I cherish the sense of community here.
What’s something most people don’t know about you?
I really like fly fishing, RVing and ropes courses (anything outdoors)
Coffee, soda or tea?
COFFEE – LOTS OF COFFEE
If you could makeover any celebrity’s smile (past or present), who would it be?
Jelly Roll. Although he’s had some work done recently, they’re not naturally done and WAY too white they stand out (not in a good way, IMHO).
What’s your go-to way to unwind after a long day?
A long walk outside
Finish this sentence: “I love to smile because…”
It is your signature. Your smile triggers feelings of happiness in the person smiling and others around you! The opposite is true as well. Encountering others with a confident smile attracts people and makes them more likely to interact with you in a positive way. It can bring joy to unexpected situations. A smile is powerful!
What is your favorite place you have ever visited (professionally or personally)?
Italy
Dogs or cats?
Both! We have 2 dogs and 1 cat.
What TV shows are you watching at the moment?
Young Sheldon
What is your favorite holiday and why?
It was my mom’s favorite holiday growing up. She made it so special, and I enjoy passing that feeling along to my own little boys.
What are three things people would be surprised to find in your purse?
Nothing surprising in there, pretty basic/boring. Less is more, I like smaller purses!
